La capacité de migrer naturellement entre les disciplines de la sculpture, de la peinture, de la gravure et de l’installation pour engager le public de manière ludique a été soigneusement affinée au cours des 20 dernières années parallèlement à l’enseignement de l’art et à la réponse aux esprits curieux et aux idées de jeunes artistes. L’obtention d’un MA en beaux-arts du CHELSEA COLLEGE OF ARTS de l’Université des Arts de Londres en 2017 a été le moment charnière pour quitter l’enseignement et poursuivre son propre travail à plein temps. Partageant son temps entre Londres et la France rurale, il y a un changement significatif dans les influences des routines contraintes de la vie urbaine qui disparaissent pour révéler le flux des saisons et se connecter au monde naturel grâce à des observations minutieuses des flux, des cycles et du mouvement perpétuel.
L’importance de la relation entre notre monde naturel fragile et l’expérience d’utiliser la terre elle-même pour créer des formes très délicates permettent à mes idées d’évoluer vers des formes sensuelles qui reconnaissent la prouesse technique d’écouter le matériau et de produire des formes céramiques fragiles pour refléter le besoin. respecter les changements alarmants de l’environnement.
Les sculptures sont toutes fabriquées à la main à l’aide d’épais rouleaux d’argile; apparaissant initialement assez lourds et grossiers jusqu’à ce qu’ils soient secs comme du cuir – et c’est alors que commencent les heures de raffinage. Des heures à manipuler et à pousser le matériau à ses limites absolues pour gagner la bonne quantité de fragilité pour captiver le public.

The ability to naturally migrate between the disciplines of sculpture, painting, printmaking and installation to playfully engage the audience has been carefully honed over the last 20 years alongside teaching Art and responding to the curious minds and ideas of young artists. GraduatIng with an MA in Fine Art from CHELSEA COLLEGE OF ARTS, University of Arts London in 2017 was the pivotal moment to leave teaching and pursue her own work full time. Dividing her time between London and rural France there is a significant shift in influences from the constrained routines of city life that fall away to reveal the flow of the seasons and connect to the natural world through careful observations of flux, cycles and perpetual motion.
“My sculptures embody the changing cycles of our existence. The ebb and flow of the seasons, rivers and tides that forcefully sweep through our surroundings play a key role in the development of ideas to inspire my sculpture.
The significance of the relationship between our fragile natural world and the experience of using the earth itself to create highly delicate forms allow my ideas to evolve into sensual shapes that acknowledge the technical prowess of listening to the material and produce fragile ceramic forms to reflect the need to respect the alarming changes within the environment.
The sculptures are all hand-built using thick coils of clay; initially appearing quite heavy and crude until they are leather-dry – and that is when the hours of refining begin. Hours of manipulating and pushing the material to its absolute limits to gain the right amount of fragility to captivate the audience.”
